Anyone who knows me knows that wine tasting is one of my favorite hobbies. Far from an expert or snob, I firmly believe that the most important rule about wine is to drink what you like and that you never know where you’ll discover a new favorite.
Except I bet you’ll find more than one wine you love at any one of Rhode Island’s wineries. From sparkling night-starters to sippable whites, dinner-ready reds and sweet wines perfect for dessert, there’s truly something for everyone.
In “100 Things To Do in Providence Before You Die,” I mention several of the state’s wineries. I’ve enjoyed visiting nearly all of them-one or two has popped up since I wrote the book-but my favorite has to be Greenvale Vineyards in Portsmouth. Summer Saturdays feature live jazz music which provides the perfect setting for a wine-fueled picnic after tasting.
This isn’t the last you’ll hear from me on Rhode Island wineries. Stay tuned for individual posts on each winery. Cheers!
